Leader Badge explained
The Leader Badge is awarded quarterly and is based on user ratings. It recognizes the leading tool according to OMR Score, which is calculated from the number of ratings, average rating, and recency of reviews. Your tool can receive the Leader Badge in multiple categories (main and subcategories).
Unlike the Top Rated Badge, which multiple tools can earn in their main category, the Leader Badge is awarded only once per category - though your tool can earn it in multiple categories.
Tools awarded the Leader Badge have received a significant number of positive user ratings in their category. Only when enough reviews are available do these become statistically relevant and allow for meaningful comparisons with other tools. This way, we ensure that the award is based on solid rating data.
Your tool gets the Leader Badge when it achieves the highest OMR Score in a category based on number of ratings, average rating, and recency. The award for the current quarter is always based on ratings collected in the previous quarter.
The Leader Badge goes live on your product profile in the quarter when your tool receives the award. You'll also get the badge URLs in PNG and SVG format via email, so you can use them for social proof marketing on your own channels.
Special features of Leader Badge awards
-
When the Leader Badge is first awarded in a new or low-rated category, it's only given once a tool has received at least 10 ratings in that category. What matters is: if another tool achieves a higher OMR Score, it gets the award.
-
The awarding of the Leader Badge can't be predicted exactly, since the number of ratings and average rating in each category can change dynamically until the end of the quarter.
-
Normally, only one Leader Badge is awarded per category. However, there's an exception with our Software Guides: here, all tools that make it to the leader quadrant (top right) in the OMR Reviews Grid receive the award.

How Leader Badge and Top Rated Badge differ
The Leader Badge is awarded to the tool with the highest OMR Score within a category. Your tool can receive this recognition as a leader in both the main category and multiple subcategories.
The Top Rated Badge, on the other hand, is only awarded in the main category. All tools receive this award that achieve at least ten ratings with an average NPS of 8 or 4 stars over the course of a quarter.
