What is the AI Visibility Dashboard?

Monitor your brand's visibility in AI-powered search answers from ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini using the AI Visibility Dashboard

Making AI Search Measurable: How Often Your Brand Shows Up in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Beyond

AI Visibility describes the visibility of your brand in the answers generated by AI search systems like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and AI Overviews. Instead of getting a list of links, buyers today receive a summarized answer that recommends a few providers while excluding others. Those who get mentioned, cited, and described positively make it to the shortlist. Those who don't appear often don't get researched at all.

The AI Visibility Dashboard shows you how visible your brand really is in AI answers, where your competitors are performing better, and which sources AI models use to understand your category. This gives you a first overview of your AI Visibility without having to commit to a dedicated tool right away.

The Dashboard is an early indicator and diagnostic tool, not a replacement for a mature SEO strategy. If AI Visibility is going to become a central channel for you, talk to your Customer Success Manager.

Why AI Visibility Matters Now

Generative AI search has arrived in B2B software buying. Buyers submit prompts like "Best BI tools for e-commerce", "HubSpot alternative for DACH", or "Which CRM solution integrates with X" and expect a curated, well-reasoned recommendation in return. This answer functions like mini-consulting and influences purchasing decisions early on, well before the first sales contact.

Three shifts make this reporting necessary:

  • Recommendation instead of listing: AI models typically mention only a handful of providers per answer. If you're not in that selection, you don't appear in buyers' awareness.
  • Sources instead of keywords: AI answers are based on cited sources like industry publications, listicles, and review platforms. Which domains and pages get cited determines how your brand is described.
  • Tone instead of just position: A mention alone isn't enough. If AI models describe your brand negatively or hesitantly, it affects the purchasing decision even if you get mentioned frequently.

What the Dashboard Measures

The Dashboard tests a curated set of prompts daily across multiple AI engines and records for each answer whether your brand appears, at which position, in what tone, and which sources the AI cites.

Currently, six AI engines are tracked:

  • Google AI Overview
  • Google AI Mode
  • Google Gemini
  • ChatGPT
  • Perplexity
  • Bing Copilot

Your prompt set is your lens. The values in the Dashboard are based exclusively on the prompts you selected together with your Customer Success Manager at the beginning. Different wording can produce different results. That's why carefully choosing your queries is the most important first step for meaningful insights.

Glossary: The Most Important Terms

  • Mention: Your brand was named in an AI answer without necessarily being linked. Mentions are the foundation of your reach.
  • Citation: Your brand was cited with a link or source reference. Citations are stronger than mentions because the AI model actively recommends your content as evidence.
  • Detection Rate: The share of tests in which your brand appeared at all. Answers the question: do we show up in these prompts at all?
  • Visibility Score: Aggregated headline metric that combines detection rate and average position. Higher is better, 100 is theoretically achievable but practically unrealistic.
  • Average Position: The average rank at which your brand appears when it's mentioned. Lower is better.
  • Top 3 Visibility: The share of tests in which your brand was among the top 3 recommendations. Stricter than detection rate because only prominent placements count.
  • Sentiment Score: The tone of the description when your brand is mentioned. Positive, neutral, or negative. Only meaningful if you have enough mentions.
  • Engine: A specific AI platform to which tracked prompts are sent (for example, ChatGPT GUI or Perplexity GUI).
  • Query: A single prompt from your set, for example "Best BI tools for e-commerce".
  • Topic / Tag: Grouping logic for your queries (Topics for subject areas, Tags for your own labels).

What the Dashboard Doesn't Do

  • It is not a replacement for professional SEO or SEO consulting. The values show direction, not a finished strategy.
  • It doesn't show the complete AI search market, only the segment your prompt set covers.
  • It is not an absolute assessment. Individual daily values fluctuate because AI models don't respond deterministically. Trends over at least two to three weeks are meaningful. Results from actions taken can be seen at the earliest after 3 months.

Who in Your Organization Benefits

The Dashboard isn't just marketing reporting. Different roles get different value from it:

  • Marketing & Brand: See how your brand is perceived in AI searches and how campaigns or launches impact visibility and tone.
  • SEO & Content: Identify which pages and domains AI models use as sources and where your own content is missing.
  • PR & Communications: Discover whether industry publications where your brand is listed actually generate AI visibility.
  • Sales & Sales Enablement: Make data-driven arguments about AI visibility against competitors in pitches.
  • Leadership: Track a new channel early that will become a central touchpoint in the buying process over the coming years.

Even if the initial values seem low: AI Visibility is being decided right now in most B2B categories. Those who track early understand which levers work and can make targeted adjustments instead of only reacting once competitors dominate the recommendation lists.

Next, take a look at the Dashboard structure so you can use every section strategically.
